Ice Cream Microphone

Description

This Prop is a small wireless microphone invisibly embedded within a bath or shower sponge shaped like an ice cream cone. Used as a classic microphone, this fluffy, ice cream-shaped sponge is held in the speakers’ hands, offering a playful alternative to the standard metal-bodied design. In larger group discussions and formats like the World Café or hybrid setups with online participants, the microphone serves multiple purposes. It not only amplifies the speaker’s voice for the room but also transmits the sound to online listeners. At the same time, it becomes a symbolic “talking object”, encouraging active engagement as participants pass or playfully throw it to one another.

How to Use

This object enables and empowers the person holding it, giving them the floor and amplifying their voice while inviting the rest of the group to listen attentively. Beyond its practical function of reinforcing speech, it serves as a visible symbol of who has the right to speak at any given moment. A participant may signal their desire to respond by raising their hand, prompting the microphone to be passed to them. Alternatively, the previous speaker can toss the microphone to someone else as an invitation to react to what was being said. Using this prop ensures that only one person speaks at a time, fostering a more focused and collaborative dialogue. It encourages participants to actively react to one another and build on what has been said, enabling the collective developments of ideas. At the same time, it breaks down hierarchies, creating a more inclusive environment where everyone has equal opportunity to participate and speak. The physical act of tossing the microphone introduces a playful, dynamic element to discussions, offering a welcome break from prolonged sitting. Depending on how it’s thrown—softly, high, or far—it can also spark lighthearted, comical moments. The soft fabric ensures there’s no risk of injury, making it both safe and engaging.
