Talking about geopolitics in architecture can quickly turn into a horror show of urban mega-projects being pulled out of the ground. This article, published in Swiss architecture journal Archithese, is a reflection on NEWROPE’s Studio Piraeus and describes its attempt to overcome a mere description or rejection of large scale infrastructural developments and related foreign investments. Instead, it points at ways to become active and to design in dialogue with today’s global realities, with a wide variety of people and a sensibility for places.
